Cloud Forest is honored to invite ceramic artist Julia Lu to conduct an eagerly anticipated ceramic sculpture workshop—“ Black and Flower Non-Flower – Plant Self-Portrait Sculpture“
Black—perhaps a former shadow, a trace of loss, or perhaps a commemoration of nourishment and growth. The emotions and stories we’ve experienced will settle between our hands and clay, transforming into gentle yet firm forms.

Artist Julia Lu believes that humans are organic beings, continuously intertwining and interacting with their environment. Therefore, her creations are not merely presentations of objects, but rather a process of physical and spiritual intervention in nature. These processes are formed through the accumulation of small yet resilient traces of life discovered in daily existence. She chooses to mold the inner dialogue between humans and nature through clay.
This workshop will last 3.5 hours, during which the instructor will guide participants in using “Black Mountain” sculpting clay from the United States. In keeping with the conceptual design, the works will not be glazed; instead, fine textures will be used to depict the special black clay quality, revealing its fascinating coloration. For the form, the artist’s concept of “plant self-portrait” will guide the sculpture formation. Through the interaction between clay and plant forms, participants will gradually explore and recognize themselves, engaging in a dialogue about life, memory, and regeneration through their hands and the earth.
Cloud Forest invites you to join us in conversing with the soil through your hands, seeking the rhythm of your own life and the resonance of your emotions.
